Achyutanand ji describes an incident that took place in Vrindavan in Dwapar Yuga…

Panchaskhas (five friends), Lord Krishna, Gopa-Gopals (cowherds), and cows were returning home during sunset. Goddess Kali saw the Gopa-Gopals and after seeing their beautiful and holy body, the Goddess’ mouth started to water. Goddess Kali expanded her tongue, expressing her desire to eat the cowherds. Lord Krishna asked Goddess Kali, “Mother! Please tell me what you want?”
Goddess Mahakali said to the Lord…
“बिसुद्धो सोरीर ओटे हंकर मोमन लोभ होईला,
रक्त मांस सुद्धअटे अहंकु भखीबा मोने कल्पिबा।”
“bisuddho sorīra oṭe haṃkara momana lobha hoīlā, rakta māṃsa suddhaaṭe ahaṃku bhakhībā mone kalpibā|”
Meaning:-
Lord! These cowherds (Gopa-Gopals) are very pure and holy. This is the reason, there was a temptation in my mind to eat them, what should I do? I had a strong desire to consume their pure meat.
Lord Krishna replies to Goddess Kali…
“भवानी रगिर सुणि चक्रधर श्रीमुखरु आज्ञा देले
सुध सोणित रक्तमाँस भखीबा कहिदेवा वाभोले
मोर भकत मोहर सेचित्त मोरअंग अटन्ति
ताकू तुम्भेवा जदिचभकिब अम्भे काहेमु वसंती।”
“bhavānī ragira suṇi cakradhara śrīmukharu ājñā dele sudha soṇita raktamāṁsa bhakhībā kahidevā vābhole mora bhakata mohara secitta moraaṃga aṭanti tākū tumbhevā jadicabhakiba ambhe kāhemu vasaṃtī|”
Meaning:-
Lord Krishna says, “Mother! all of them are my companions, and my dear friends. They are an integral part of me. I have descended on earth mainly for these devotees. I will perform many divine plays (leelas) on the land of Vrindavan along with these sixteen thousand Gopas-Gopals and Gopis. Therefore, I will not fulfill this wish of yours in this birth.
Goddess Kali again expresses her desire to the Lord…
“कपट ना करी प्रभु नरहरि पेड़ीक इवच्छामूरे
केहुँसे जुगरे केहुँसमयरे आगहो कुहोपथरे।”
“kapaṭa nā karī prabhu narahari peḍaīka ivacchāmūre kehuṁse jugare kehuṁsamayare āgaho kuhopathare|”
Meaning:-
Goddess Kali says to the Lord, “Lord, at what time of which age (i.e. yuga) will my wish be fulfilled?” When will I get a chance to eat holy meat? Please tell me.
Then, the Lord says to Goddess Mahakali…
“धन्य कलीजुगे अबतारो लेबी नदिया नवद्वीपरे
सखा संगी तुम्भे समस्ते जन्मिबे भक्ति हेबजे प्रकासो।”
“dhanya kalījuge abatāro lebī nadiyā navadvīpare sakhā saṃgī tumbhe samaste janmibe bhakti hebaje prakāso|”
Meaning:-
The Lord says, “At the time of Kaliyug, when I take birth at Nadia Navadweep, I will be known as Chaitanya. My pious devotees, whom you want to eat, will also be born there and all my devotees from India and abroad will become followers of Vaishnavism.
The Lord says again…
“आम्भे वेनिभाई भकतंकु घेयनी देश-विदेश घमिबु
भकतंकु भेंट करी जेउचाट पासंड जनमोड़ीबू।”
“āmbhe venibhāī bhakataṃku gheyanī deśa-videśa ghamibu
bhakataṃku bheṃṭa karī jeucāṭa pāsaṃḍa janamoḍaībū|”
Meaning:-
The Lord says that I will preach love and Dharma in Nadia Navadwip and many pious devotees from all over the world will join me. After leaving the body, at the end of Kaliyug, I will again take the birth in the form of Kalki and travel to different countries. My devotees will be with me at that time. I will annihilate all those who are sinners, asuras, or corrupt, for the honor of truth and righteousness.
In Dwapar yuga, Goddess Bhadrakali was assured by the Lord to fulfill her desire to eat holy meat as described in the following verse…
“थोके मूढोजने भकत जनमे बैष्णब धर्म करिबे
महिमा बुझिबे मंत्रजे सिखिबे सर्व विषय जाणीबे।”
“thoke mūḍhojane bhakata janame baiṣṇaba dharma karibe mahimā bujhibe maṃtraje sikhibe sarva viṣaya jāṇībe|”
Meaning:-
In Dwapar, you had a desire to eat my devotees. Those devotees will be born at the end of Kaliyuga when I take the Kalki avatar. All those devotees will be spreading my glory at that time. All these devotees will also sing my name with purity, and they will follow all the rules, but they will also do wrong things and commit sin. This is the reason why I will entrust you with the task of killing them.
“थूके मद भक्ष्य करिण से मुख्य नागान्तो पथरे थिबे
छटको नाटको करिण उच्चाटो अकर्म करी करिबे
सुद्ध सोणित माँसोटे ताहांकर कारणों लोभिबे नाही
तुम्भे माहामाई आसा रखीथिब तेतिकी बेलू कुचाहिँ।”
“thūke mada bhakṣya kariṇa se mukhya nāgānto pathare thibe chaṭako nāṭako kariṇa uccāṭo akarma karī karibe suddha soṇita māṁsoṭe tāhāṃkara kāraṇoṃ lobhibe nāhī tumbhe māhāmāī āsā rakhīthiba tetikī belū kucāhiṁ|”
Meaning:-
The Lord informs the Goddess Kali that all the Vaishnava devotees, who will practice Vaishnavism but also consume non-veg, will be the source of pure and holy meat at the end of Kaliyuga. These devotees won’t even go to Satyayug. Goddess Kali will kill those devotees and her Dwapar yuga desire of consuming pure meat will be fulfilled.
“मंत्र-जंत्र बुझी नवधा भकती है जिसे करुण थिबे
माछ माँसो सुखुआ पखाल खाई द्वादस चिता काटिबे।”
“maṃtra-jaṃtra bujhī navadhā bhakatī hai jise karuṇa thibe mācha māṁso sukhuā pakhāla khāī dvādasa citā kāṭibe|”
Meaning:-
This verse of Malika is not applicable to all devotees of Vaishnavism. This verse talks only about those devotees who will practice exorcism, follow rules of worship and devotion while staying in Vaishnavism. They will apply sandalwood tilak on their forehead as well, but they will eat fish, meat, and eggs. They will consume all kinds of nonveg food and will also worship Lord Krishna.
